Two peas in a pod

Angelina is so in love with her baby brother, she never wants to leave his side. This will be interesting in a few years. You can bet I will remind her of this as she yells "Lenaïc! Leave me alone!"

She often wants to sleep with him.
We don't normally let her, since she has a tendency to move all over the bed and throw her blanket around, and that's not safe for him. However, one morning I let her crawl into bed with us and after I left (checking in on them frequently) she moved over closer to him.

It's very sweet, and it's amazing how much space two very small people can take.

So Babies Actually SLEEP?

I was convinced babies didn't really sleep, at least not alone, unattached to mommy... See, Angelina never slept during the day unless she was ON me, attached in some way (to the boob, in the sling, laying on my chest). At night I could put her down, but only because I lay(lie?) right next to her, with her attached to me most of the night.

People talked about babies who Sleep Through The Night (STTN), or about how babies "sleep all the time." I just assumed that was a myth.

And then Lenaïc was born. Now, he doesn't STTN, and his days and nights are a bit mixed up still. But he does actually sleep when NOT attached to me. I can put him down, and he sleeps! Wow! I am in shock!

Of course, that doesn't mean any extra time for me, as a certain 3.5 yr old Hurricane is still running about the house, requiring mommy's attention....

A Day at Sea World

One of the perks of Frédéric’s work is that every year they have a "Family Picnic." It takes place either at Six Flags Fiesta Texas or Sea World. For $7 each, we get free parking, admission to the park, lunch and at Sea World, a special show. Not a bad deal! So we happily take advantage of the opportunity.

We otherwise probably wouldn't go, too expensive and too exhausting. But Angelina loves it!
I forgot my camera so these are just from the phone. They have a kids playground with lots of cool stuff.

The kids' water area was tons of fun, but nothing compared to the rides! I was skeptical, but when she saw the sky tube> she was hooked. As soon as we came down, she said "I want to do it again!" Alas, we didn't want to wait in line, so we checked out the wave pool, river tubes, more slides.....

needless to say, it was a long and exhausting and totally fun day!

The fish

This child can spend her entire life in the water. She's a fish. Nothing makes her happier than playing in water.

She spent the better part of the weekend looking like a prune from so much water.

The upside for us? She actually sleeps!!! As you'll have noted before, watching her sleep is not something we can do often. Quite the contrary - she almost never stops until after we're worn out and sleeping ourselves. But the trick we have discovered is water. Swim swim swim. And lo and behold, she sleeps!

Pool time and a sight never before seen

I had to go to a series of meetings this week out of town, so Nanny and Angelina joined me while Papa was off in DC. Lucky for Angelina, this meant lots of pool time

And even luckier for Angelina, we were less than an hour from San Antonio, so when Fredo returned on Thursday afternoon, he drove up to pick them up, getting in a little pool time himself.

As for Angelina, she'd happily turn into a raisin sitting in the water all day if I let her.

But here's what that will do:

This is the child who NEVER falls asleep. Nanny claims she's never seen Angelina with her eyes clothes or mouth shut, but now there's proof it does happen on rare occasions. We had gone to dinner - early mind you - and Angelina was not herself. Instead of trying to run around like a banshee, she just sat on my lap and talked. Before I knew it, she laid her head down on the table and well, fell asleep.
